Summary: The movie depicts how the conflict-affected families in a town outside of Sarajevo, Bosnia, that was home to both Bosnian Croats and Bosnian Moslems and where they had previously coexisted peacefully.

A record of the disintegration in close connections between Bosnian Muslims and Croats in a village is viewed as the one and only ray of hope in a country that was about to rip itself apart. And, in the end, the deportation of the Muslim community and the destruction of their homes at the hands of Croat forces when the conflict reached the village of "Dolina" in May of 1993. The narrative is mostly recounted via the stories of the villagers, who provide riveting first-person narratives of how decades-long friendships are severed due to fear and intimidation as the multiethnic fabric of Bosnia is ripped apart. After what had occurred, one of the Muslims who had to flee the community came to the conclusion that there is no chance that they would ever be able to coexist peacefully with the Croats in the village again.

When Catholic Croats take power, Muslim enterprises are targeted for destruction, villagers are jailed and tormented, and threats are made against their houses. After three weeks, neighbors who had been close friends for half a century suddenly stopped speaking to one another, and the peaceful coexistence of Croats and Muslims deteriorates into mutual mistrust and terror of one another.
