What are the ethical responsibilities for drug manufactures? Is any drug completely safe, or is the ethical principle "Do no harm" a relative guide? Should the DFA require the pharmaceutical industry to conduct more elaborate premarket drug testing or in crease monitoring of customers' use of the drug?  Although legal, is it ethical for drug manufacturers to develop and market a drug that promises enhanced sexual performance but could also cause life-threatening side effects?

 Drug manufacturers have the ethical responsibility to fully test their drugs, understand and effectively communicate the effectiveness and potential side effects. No drug is completely safe as there are so many different levels of health and sensitivity in the general population.

 No, I think there is already enough. Though I think it would be better that tests not be funded or sponsored by the company that will sell the drug or otherwise profit from it. There is also a cost in human suffering when life-saving drugs are delayed from entering the market due to excessive testing. This drives patients to go overseas to get the same drug already fully tested in Europe.

 Yes, it is ethical as long as these side effects are clearly and fully explained. Then, it is up to the prescribing doctor and the patient himself to decide if the risk is worth it.
