For this paper, you will select a short story the class has read and written about this semester. It is important that you choose a short story of high interest; one that engaged your thinking and left you with questions and/or ideas for extended analysis. You will be looking for patterns and specific textual evidence to support your idea(s) about the story. 
Any of the following resources may be used to generate ideas for an essay topic (1) an extension of a response you have already written to one of the stories (2) a response to one of the "Considerations for Critical Thinking and Writing" questions that follow each short story, (3) a response to "Questions for Responsive Reading and Writing about Fiction" (pages 1513-1515), (4) questions over Critical Approaches (pages 1476-1478) OR (4) an original idea you have about the short story. Be sure that you have a narrowly focused, thesis-driven idea that can be sufficiently developed into a three to four page (double-spaced) paper. 
We will use "Questions for Writing: A Revision Checklist" on pages 1495-1496 for peer review of the rough draft on 2/17/22 and as a checklist for essay before submission of final copy. 
Your essay should be typed, Times New Roman, MLA format, and a minimum of 750-1000 words.
