Misleading Product Advertisement by Online Retailers through Social Media

In my research work, I would like to narrow the topic by focusing on the misleading advertisements information that most online retailers feed consumers with through social media. As technology continues to change rapidly, dramatic revolution is experienced in the corporate world where most companies opt to take online marketing strategy to improve competitive advantage. Unfortunately, however, some businesses are taking advantage of the platform to exploit customers by feeding them wrong information concerning the product's quality, price, and quantity. This is facilitated through advertisement, promotion, and blogging through social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

My interest in this topic was drawn by the experience where my friend was fed with misleading information and lost a good amount of money. I have also done many research reviews concerning the impact of false news or misleading information and how it has negatively affected young people and the community. The rationale of selecting this particular topic is to develop a well-designed framework and findings that youths can use to differentiate between genuine and fake information. Beyond, most Americans are currently relying on social media for information, and therefore fake news can result in a significant mess in the country if immediate action is not taken.

Beyond, during my final paper, if given the go-ahead in the topic, I will focus on bringing clear information concerning the existing controversy in the social media of differentiating fake and legit information. I will also clarify youths and other populations depending on social media for information on how it can build or destroy the community. Finally, I will also examine the impact it led on the country and future expectations.
