          The idea of “the American dream” is that anyone can be anything, no matter where they were born or where they grew. Everyone that works hard enough should be able to meet their goals. The gains should be equal to the time and resources invested, with no discrimination. This is exactly what the story of the Diaz family promotes. Even if they grew up poor and in an unfavorable environment, through determination and willingness to learn, they managed to succeed, becoming “A Family of Champions”. Waking up at six o`clock, working sixteen hours a day, and being raised with “tough love” are the things that prepared them for obtaining on their own what they desired.

        Being “an American”, in the ideal situation, means that your efforts are rewarded accordingly. And this is what my parents always taught me. They went looking for “the American dream” having a goal-orientated mind, working their fingers to the bone. Not looking for the easy way out is what they consistently teach me. Superficial work will only lead to unsatisfactory results. My parents always praised education and the good life that comes with it, their appreciation for the school and the teaching system never diminished, always encouraging me to seek more, be curious, focused, and work hard in order to reach my objectives.
