Needs Assessment & Instructional Program
Page length—10 pages MAX (including 1 cover page & 1 reference page).
This assignment is comprised of two components: 1) a needs assessment template and 2) the instructional program.
- Needs Assessment Template
Design a hypothetical needs assessment template that will allow you to further understand the needs of an adult education population.
The necessary steps are:
- Choose a population of your choice. Some examples could include, single parents, new immigrants, LGBTQ youth, seniors with physical disabilities, divorced parents, and children with low self-esteem.
- Create a 1 page template (e.g., survey, questionnaire) that includes questions useful in gathering pertinent data about the types of adult learning programs that would be advantageous for your designated population. It is equally important to explore goals, supports, challenges, and barriers on your template.
- Provide a two-page double-spaced description of your data analysis and presentation of your hypothetical results. Grounded in your hypothetical “research”, what types of instructional programs would be most beneficial for this population?
- Instructional Program
Based on the needs assessment portion of this assignment, describe an instructional program specifically tailored to your population. The description should be a maximum of five pages (not including references).
The description should consist of the following sections / details:
- Introduction of the chosen topic, rationale, and core objectives.
- Participant demographics (e.g., age, socioeconomic status, level of education, racial/ethnic/cultural background, and sexual identity).
- Program logistics including: setting/location, accessibility concerns, frequency, duration, and length of program (e.g., where, when, how often, and how long will the program run) and enrolment size.
- How will the program be facilitated and content be delivered? Through which visual aids (e.g., handouts, chart paper, PowerPoint)?
- Briefly share exercises/activities you hope to introduce in your program.
- Required resources and materials (e.g., books, articles, handouts).
- Evaluation method; how will the participants be graded?
- Concluding statements about the efficacy of providing this instructional program.
- References can be comprised of chapters and articles provided in this course or relevant scholarly literature acquired in other BELCD courses.
The assignment is to be typed, double spaced,12 point font (preferably Times Roman or Arial), and no more than 10 pages in length (that includes the headings for each section and subsection noted above, title and reference page).
