Read three landmark end of life cases regarding Karen Quinlan, Nancy Cruzan (pgs. 178 & 179 Burkhardt & Nathaniel [p. 275-6 of old version of book]) and Terri Schiavo (p. 204-5, Chapter 11) and answer the following questions . Reflect on these end of life cases cases and choose just one of cases above to discuss the following questions (discuss at least 2 of the bullets below): Which position do you support, that of the family or guardian ad litem (GAL)? Describe the ethical principles and dilemmas evident in these situations. If you are the nurse caring for the patient, how would you respond to the parties involved as the decisions are being made? What do you think about the legal system's role in the use of technology? Did they make the right decision in the case?
