Imagine you are a crime analyst working for the local police force. Each year over the Spring Break at the University of Arizona, the city of Tucson experiences an uptick in property crimes. Your immediate supervisor believes that there is a local gang responsible for a majority of the incidents near campus, and as their resident criminologist would like you to explain some theoretical reasons why this particular gang might exist in an effort to understand their goals. 

Choose one sociological mainstream theory and one sociological critical theory, and write up a short "report" for this boss that details: 1. what each theory would tell us about the reasons this gang is engaging in deviant behavior, and 2. two recommendations  for how to reduce gang activity based on each theory (e.g. one recommendation for each theory, two total). Finally, provide a brief but well-reasoned argument for which recommendation you think would work the best.
