Assignment 4: Risk Management and Intervention Proposal

(SLO 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7; 25% of course grade) -- This assignment, your final paper, combines and builds on Assignments 2 and 3, and gives you the opportunity to make recommendations. You have 2 weeks to complete this assignment, due at the end of week 6 (next week).

You received instructor and/or peer feedback on your previous assignments. Carefully consider and incorporate that feedback to strengthen those sections, which will be incorporated as background in this final assignment. Then add the final risk management section in 2 parts as follows:

Part 1. Options  Taking into account the findings of your risk characterization, conduct a web search of public health and community organizations that are working on this issue and describe the main risk management options.

  • What intervention strategies or actions have been taken to manage this public health threat?

  • Who was involved as key collaborators and partners in carrying out the action?

  • How was progress or success measured?

  • Where did funding for the action come from and what limitations did that have, if any?

Part 2. Recommendations to the Community. Given the options you described above, finish your paper by answering the following questions, specific to the community problem you are addressing:

  • What is the best policy option? What public health actions would you recommend to address the concerns in the affected community.
  • What other viewpoints and factors might community members and other stakeholders have that will impact how this issue is addressed? Consider social equity concerns and economic impacts.
  • What policies and actions of agencies or other partner organizations may help or impose barriers to solutions around this issue?
  • What resources are needed to implement your proposed action, and where will this come from?

The final paper including should be between 10-13 pages, plus a bibliography. APA guidelines should be followed.
