The women's rights movement was incensed and began accelerating and gaining traction.

The Fifteenth Amendment granted African American men the right to vote. This incensed women, because people once considered nothing more than property and inferior to all whites (regardless of gender) were now allowed to participate in government while women - including white women - were not.
