Homework answers / question archive / Part One: Before you read, create a reading plan
Part One:
Before you read, create a reading plan. Your reading plan should include the following information:
1. Your note-taking method - Will you highlight, underline, or circle? How will you determine what to mark? How will you record your reactions? How will you record questions and ideas? Will you use symbols and images?
2. Your pacing - Will you read the whole chapter in one sitting? Will you break it up by pages or by time? How long will it take you to read this chapter?
Part Two:
After reading the chapter and taking notes and/or marking the text, reflect on your reading and note-taking experience. In your reflection, you should include the following information:
1. How well your note-taking method worked for you - Did it slow you down? Did it help you concentrate? Do you think your notes will help you remember what you read? Do you wish you would have tried a different method?
2. How effective your pacing was - Did you get tired as you read? Did your mind wander? Did it take you more and less time than you expected? Do you wish you would have paced your reading differently?
Your plan and reflection do NOT need to be written in paragraph form. You may use bullet points if you choose. Submit both the plan and the reflection for credit.
