SE3250 Capability Engineering Project Plan

This assignment includes 1) a project plan and 2) an initial draft report.

1) For the plan, elaborate on the application of your interest. Describe the system boundary, modeling paradigm, potential stakeholders, etc. The plan should include the following at a minimum:

• Describe problem and background • What will result from your study • Who are potential stakeholders and users. What class of people and/or DoD organizations would use or care about the simulation results. • Show system boundary • How will a user interact? • What are the inputs and outputs? • A prototype of I/O would be very useful to show • Define model performance measures • Chosen modeling paradigm and rationale • Initial literature search findings. Don’t reinvent the wheel, existing models may be available for modification. • Working prototypes and other material as appropriate Applicable contents can go directly into the draft report.

In the next plan update we'll use the modeling process in Chapter 2 as a guide to your activities and plan them out. E.g., you will answer “What is your approach to data collection?”, “How will your model be verified and validated?”, etc. 2) Next instantiate your project report using the textbook report outline in Chapter 2. Fill in what you can, create placeholders as warranted, start identifying what sections may not apply or need tailoring.
