Assignment 2 Guidelines/Grading Scheme

Students will select one of two articles and submit a 1000 word essay (approximately 4 pages). PDFs of the articles are on eclass.

Use Times New Roman or similar font, 12 point, double-spaced • The task is to briefly (no more than 2 paragraphs) summarize the article including the author's thesis statement/main point. Then present your argument with a clear thesis statement. The body of the essay will critically analyze the article with what we have learned in class so far. What are the strengths and why? What are the weaknesses and why? What "evidence" or method does the author use to support their arguments? Is it convincing? Why or why not? In your conclusion, restate your thesis and summarize your main points. • The purpose of this assignment is to use your knowledge from class so far to read material critically and express your ideas in writing. • In addition to citing the article you chose, you must have at least 2 other sources from class (lectures, discussions, textbook, films) to support your argument. • You may use any citation style you prefer as long as it is correct and consistent. Many students find MLA and APA easiest to use. • PLEASE submit via e-class Dropbox by Friday, April 16, 2021 by 1:00pm (13:00h). • Review syllabus for policy on late submission.
