M4D1: Large-Scale Empires

This module introduced us to the growth of large-scale empires, much larger than we have seen in previous weeks. In our discussion this week, we will be examining the impact of these empires and how they began to form global connections; additionally, we will be considering their differences.

Your Initial Post:

Begin by viewing the Module Presentation and continue by reading Chapter 6 and Chapter 7 in your textbook. Then, as you review the sources, consider the following question in a post of at least 250 words: 

Select one of three large-scale empires that we read about this week: Alexander’s Hellenistic Empire, the Han Dynasty, or the Roman Empire. Then, describe this empire for your classmates.

• Where did it begin?
• How far did it reach?
• What were its strengths and what were its weaknesses?
• How did size, religion, and other factors figure into the stability of the empire?
