PROJECT DESCRIPTION

As an intern with Companion Pups, a help dog nonprofit organization, you have been asked to contribute to the Annual Report for the board of directors. You will edit and format a draft of the report, adding graphics, tables, and other visual aids to enhance clarity.

 

GETTING STARTED

·         Download the following file from the SAM website:

o    NP_Word2013_T3_P1a_FirstLastName_1.docx

·         Open the file you just downloaded and save it with the name:

o    NP_Word2013_T3_P1a _FirstLastName_2.docx

o    Hint: If you do not see the .docx file extension in the Save file dialog box, do not type it. Word will add the file extension for you automatically.

·         With the file NP_Word2013_T3_P1a _FirstLastName_2.docx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the footer. If the footer does not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.

 

PROJECT STEPS

1.            Insert a header with the Top of Page Accent Bar 2 page number.

2.            Place the insertion point at the end of the paragraph beginning with “Companion Pups is dedicated…” and insert a footnote with the text:

A therapy dog even supports students in the Yale Law Library.

3.            Apply the Heading 6 style to the paragraphs beginning with “Inspire minds and…” and ending with “…especially before surgery.”

4.            On the second page, move the insertion point to the blank paragraph following “Companion Pups sponsors several fundraising and educational events each years. Notable events are described below.” Insert the Basic Process SmartArt graphic (1st column, 1st row in the Process section of the SmartArt gallery).

5.            Enter the following text into the SmartArt graphic just inserted. Each line of text below should appear in a separate shape of the SmartArt.

6.            Delete the table titled “Events by the Numbers” under the “Designated Charities” section.

7.            Move the insertion point to the blank line after the sentence “The following table summarizes…the previous year.” Insert a table with 3 columns and 6 rows and enter the data shown in Table 1 below.

8.            Delete the last row of the table containing the text “2016 Projections”.

9.            Insert a column to the right of the “2015” column and enter the data shown in Table 2 below.

10.         Format the table using the Grid Table 5 Dark – Accent 1 table style and AutoFit Window.

11.         Under the heading “Special Thanks to our Management Team”, set a 1.5” left tab stop and insert tabs so that the names “Emily Howe” through “Bailey” are aligned with the stop.

12.         Change the document margins to Moderate.

13.         Insert a cover page using the built-in Ion (Light) style. Using the cover page placeholders, enter the text shown in Table 3 below.

14.         Check the Spelling & Grammar in the document to identify and correct any spelling errors. (Hint: Ignore proper nouns such as “501(3)” and “ReTail”. You should find and correct at least 1 additional spelling error.)

Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following pages. Save your changes, close the document, and exit Word. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
