Perfect competition was the most prominent market structure in biblical times.

Perfect competition is a structure with many buyers and sellers, sellers selling similar products, free entry and exit to the markets, sellers compete to gain a competitive advantage in the market, and buyers have full information on the market products. In biblical times, markets had many buyers and sellers, and the government did not control or make policies and restrictions on how markets should operate. This means that the government did not also dictate products' prices; thus, each firm had to compete to gain an advantage in the market (this is a characteristic of a perfect competition market structure). Sellers in the perfect market structure strive to gain or build customer loyalty to increase sales and profits.
