How did Lenin adapt Marxism to the conditions in Russia?

Lenin adapted Marxism to conditions in Russia in several important ways. He built a provisional government from the soviets, the workers' collectives, which gave rise to the term Soviet Union. When agriculture failed under Marxist redistribution, he instituted a quasi-capitalist approach, allowing peasants to sell some of their produce and make money. Finally, he encouraged social change throughout Russia by demonizing "enemies of the revolution" such as the intelligentsia, bringing more of the population under his political control.
