I'm going to be brutally honest, team: Despite the shift to online learning, this is still a formal class, and I am still responsible for awarding a grade at the end of the semester

English

I'm going to be brutally honest, team: Despite the shift to online learning, this is still a formal class, and I am still responsible for awarding a grade at the end of the semester. That second listed reality becomes more and more concerning, though, as assigned work goes unsubmitted, virtual classes are skipped, and communication with me is avoided. Now's the time to get your house in order. Revisit Week 8 and Week 9. Did you complete the assigned activities? If the answer is "yes," that's wonderful! If the answer is "no," do something about that or take a zero!

Here are some more questions to ask yourself:

  • Did you complete a Peer Review exchange with an assigned classmate? If not, is that classmate unable to complete the work because you have left them hanging?
  • Did you CC me when you shared a completed Peer Review form with your classmate? If not, I cannot give you credit because I have not seen your work!
  • Has anyone else looked at your paper yet? A peer, Professor Decker, a tutor, a friend, or a family member?
  • Are you simply unable to continue with the class due to the pandemic and significant changes to your personal, academic, professional lives? Contact me!
  • What do you need to do to reinvest in your learning experience this semester?

I share these questions with you not to alarm but to refocus and motivate. We have gotten so far together. Now is not the time to lose steam and abandon your learning.
