What are the five components of the VRINE model?
VRINE model represents Value, Rarity, Inimitability, Non-substitutability and Exploitability. It is an instrumental framework to determine the available resources through their work level. It means the resources and capabilities needed to produce a specialized product.
Value: A resource is deemed valuable if it can attract opportunities and fight against threats in its environment. Useful resources are capable enough to do the needed job in the available time, quality and cost. They need to prove their commitment to the organization.
Rarity: Rare resources are those resources that cannot be easily found. These resources are not available to everyone. They can help in producing unique products that will set the organization apart from other businesses.
Inimitability and Non-substitutability: A valuable or rare resource will remain as such till the competitor does not find a substitute for it. Till that time, the resources are considered inimitable and non-substitutable.
Exploitability: The organization must achieve all the qualities a resource possesses. It should be able to attain the required benefits from valuable and rare resources.
