EDU4110 – OBSERVATION PORTFOLIO ASSIGNMENT- 25%

Objectives: To demonstrate your ability to observe young children in an early learning environment using a variety of observational tools.

Assignment Expectations: You will complete a collection of clear, comprehensive and professional observations, for this assignment. You will also compose a one page reflection outlining the importance of observation to your future practice. All observations are to be typed, formatted, and free of any spelling and /or grammatical errors.

Directions: 1. Read over the assignment expectations & rubric.

2. Complete the following observations (all referenced from course notes and text readings):
   • Running Record (10 minutes in length)
   • Charting
   • Event Sample (Learning Centre Template)
   • Learning Story
3. Write a one page reflection to outline why you think the skill of observation is important to your professional practice as a future Early Childhood Educator.
4. Organize observations & reflection into one document. Please include a title page.
5. Submit this in the dropbox in the assignment file
