Citations are essential for academic integrity and are very important for the original writers

Writing

Citations are essential for academic integrity and are very important for the original writers. I like how when you're citing a piece of work, you can use as much information as you want from someone else without taking credit for their work. I like how people cannot use other people's work for their own because it is not fair for the original writers. It is more strict about citations and sources in university and will be panelized in a brutal way. In high school, we were taught not to plagiarize, but it didn't have the same consequences as we do in university. In all of my classes, there are not a lot of differences with these rules. We are not allowed to introduce somebody else's work as our own because of integrity. This rule is in place because it prevents us from cheating, and it helps us do our research and help us find our information. All classes expect you to identify with sources and cite your work no matter where the data comes from. Sometimes, I struggle with citing little details that are easy to miss. Small ideas taken from others can be the most difficult to quote and find, but it is still essential. With academic integrity, applying sources and citing information is the best way to complete an assignment, and it will help us in our future in our careers.

Research and citation are key parts of university culture. Scholars, researchers, and students are expected to research their ideas and to "show their work." That is, when we use information or ideas that are not our own, we are expected to clearly demonstrate where we got it. Let's take a moment to talk about how these expectations may be different from the expectations we experienced in high school, and how the expectations differ from one class to another. Write a word discussion in which you talk about your experience with research and with citing your sources. What parts of it do you like? What parts are new and different? What similarities do you see between expectations in your different classes? What differences? What do you struggle with?
