There are two parts in this laboratory session

There are two parts in this laboratory session. Part 1 is to be completed prior to the session in your own time and involves the calculation of reactions and drawing shear force diagram (SFD) and bending moment diagram (BMD). Part 2 is to be conducted in your tutorial time and involves loading a simply supported beam and measuring the bending moment and shear force at a section. These measurements will be compared to your Part 1 calculations. In the experiment, you will investigate replicating the deflected shape of a segment of a simply supported beam with a point load by applying a bending moment and a shear force to the segment using the Experiment Configuration specific to that particular segment's geometry. Each student is required to submit a hard copy of this working sheet to a tutor within one week after the laboratory session, which is worth 5% of your total marks for this subject.
