In terms of psychopathology, is there any developmental considerations when diagnosing a minor with tobacco use? I know that tobacco use disorder refers to a problematic use and the criteria with in the DSM-5-TR are indicative of problematic use based symptoms; however, it seems like being underage and using is already disordered use. So, if in a case study, a 17 year old client mentions smoking cigarettes, but doesn't give any other details, would it be a rule out or provisional diagnosis of tobacco use disorder, and if not, what would it be?
