Statistics can provide valuable insight into the world around us and with this we can 
use this data to make an impact on these outcomes. For this report, you will 
investigate a social justice issue and report on the data surrounding these issues. 
What is social justice? Social justice as defined by the United Nationals Economic 
and Social Affairs Division defines it as "justice in terms of the distribution of wealth, 
opportunities and privileges within a society." https://www.un.org/esa/socdev/documents/ifsd/SocialJustice.pdf
An example of this is: According to the CDC, 17% of children (2-5 years) from low-
income households have untreated cavities in their primary teeth, 3 times the 
percentage of children from higher income households. Social justice issues may 
highlight the disparities influencing this data. What is causing this disparity? Are the 
disparities due to socioeconomic differences or educational differences? With this 
data, what can we do to change these outcomes? If the increase in caries rates is due 
to level of oral education, we can develop programs to improve the education rates in 
these populations.

For your report, please complete the following items: 
?1. Investigate different social justice issues that interest you surrounding oral health or dental public health. 
? 2. Describe the target population centered around this issue. (Socioeconomic status, gender, age group, ethnicity, or any other general characteristics)
? 3. Research your issue and find a data set that you can conduct a statistical analysis on. What statistical concept is best applied to your data? What does you data show?
? 4. Develop a statistical graph of your data (bar graph, pie chart, histogram etc.) What can you as a dental hygienist to modify or improve your social justice issue based on your statistical findings?
? 5. Develop and upload a video that speaks about your social justice issue and your data analysis. 
 

6. Graphic Presentation:From the data you observed, how can you represent the most significant findings using graphing techniques learned in class? Provide the graphic(s) and a dialogue of what this graph represents. This can include any type of data you chose.
