Using your own speech or one that has been presented in class, you will write your first textual

essay. Your paper will be 3-4 pages, MLA formatted and documented with in-text citations and

a Works Cited page.

In your short essay, you want to:

1) Discuss the content and the focus of your speech or article/essay

2) Identify the type of Argument that is being used and support your claim with evidence from the speech

3) Discuss the reasoning that is used.

4) Present your own position based on the speech using evidence from the speech as well as outside resources, two minimum
