Section One: The Essay (Student Selected Reading)

Select one of the novels that the class read this semester in ENG 102, and answer the following questions in essay form:

1. Why did you choose the reading that you selected? Why did this particular reading stand out to you above the others that you read this semester? (This might be the introduction for your paper)
2. What did you like about the reading?
3. Select a passage from the reading and discuss it in your paper. Please include a quote, and state why you chose to write about the passage you selected.
4. Would you be curious to read anything else written by the author of your selection? Why or why not?
5. What did you learn about reading and understanding literature this semester? You should think about the theme of the class, which is “social injustice in North America as seen through the eyes of young people?” (This should be your conclusion).

Section 2: Learning in the time of a global pandemic.

For this section of your final, you do not have to write in essay form. You may write your answer as a single paragraph.

Question: You have been pursuing your college degree in a virtual setting during the time of a pandemic. How has this experience (learning virtually) been for you, learning in the midst of a global crisis?
