Introduction: How do you decide if you should go to medical school, become a physical therapist, a nurse, a health educator, etc.? There are many factors
behind these questions, but the underlying issue is how you can be faithful to God in and through your career. Faithfulness is a holistic issue that is based on our
obedience to God in every area of our lives, including how we handle work. A faithful Christian perspective on work involves considering all aspects of the
vocation to which we have been called. Our primary call is one that requires us to respond in faith to Jesus Christ; however, this assignment focuses more on a
secondary call, which is a call to action. God calls us to specific actions that reflect who he has uniquely created us to be. Because God has called us to invest
our lives into a vocation that reflects our personality, passions, and giftedness, we must stop seeing work solely as a means of making money, gaining power, or
building a resume, but as an expression of how we have been made in the image of God.
In your essay you should address the following:

¢ Define and describe your chosen profession and calling while also outlining the educational expectations required to work in your chosen
field. Make sure that when discussing your calling and vocation, include what led you down that path and how your personal relationship
with God has helped developed your identity as someone seeking a profession in health care. Be sure to use professional organizations as a
source for educational expectations and cite your references.

e Describe the typical work environment for your chosen profession as well as the general salary expectations in your field. (Use professional
organizations and www.bls.gov as sources. Cite references.)

¢ Identifying your calling: Identify several God-given talents, gifts, personality traits, passions, and opportunities that have uniquely qualified
you to pursue your chosen career.

¢ Developing your road map: Outline and describe at least five of your next immediate steps required to become a professional in your chosen
profession.

e Service to the Profession: What are specific ways you see yourself “giving back” through your profession at home or abroad? While
thinking about this question please reflect and describe how learning about your calling and vocation has helped develop your understanding
of how Christians should approach and integrate faith in the field of health care while providing service to the profession.

¢ Describe how you see yourself living out your calling in the next 5 years.

Formatting Guidelines
