For this project, you are required to research a modern issue that is related to social justice issues. You may select an issue that is important and relevant to you, and your issue can be relevant at a local, statewide, national, or international context.

My Topic: Racial Injustice in the Legal System

• Select a modern issue related to social justice. Research your issue (ex: its causes and effects, people’s reactions or perspectives, historical context, proposed solutions, etc.). Write a research paper that shows a clear understanding of your chosen issue, a logical organization, and a clear understanding of your purpose and audience.

Requirements

• Select a topic that is relevant and current to the modern world or society
• Research your topic to build your background knowledge
  • You must use evidence from at least 8 sources
  • You should use a variety of sources
    • Primary and secondary sources
    • A mix of academic journals, newspaper articles, infographics, TED Talks, podcasts is encouraged to show your understanding and diversity
• Write a multiple paragraph research writing that includes:
  • A clear introduction, multiple body paragraphs or sections, and a conclusion that includes a call to action, the significance, or a clear purpose
  • Sophisticated use of evidence to explain your ideas and claims
  • A clear purpose. You should reflect on your topic, and then write to:

    • Take a stand/propose a solution
• Include a complete and thorough Works Cited Page
  • At least 8 credible sources
