using one of the critical theories/approaches to interpreting one of Shakespeare’s texts that we read or will read in class: Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth, The Merchant of Venice, and The Tempest. The first paragraph will define the critical theory/approach. The second or third will narrow the critical theory/approach so that it will appropriately apply to the selected Shakespearean text. Finally, take the narrowed critical theory/approach and apply it to two to three quotes from one of the Shakespearean texts so that you can interpret the selected quotes as evidence/support for the critical theory/approach.

1. will define the critical theory that they have been assigned. The purpose of this part of the assignment is to make yourself and others aware of the meaning and purpose of the term that motivates the critical/theory approach.
2. forward three well-known scholars/ experts in the field of criticism that they have been assigned. The purpose for this part is to make yourself and others aware of the renowned critical scholars involved in your critical theory/approach.
3. The second or third will narrow the critical theory so that it will appropriately apply to the Shakespearean text. The purpose of this part is to narrow or limit the critical theory/approach so that you can work with it as a topic/subject of study for a particular work.
4. will take the narrowed critical theory/approach and apply it to two to three quotes from one of the Shakespearean texts that we read or will read in class so that you can interpret the selected quotes as evidence/support for the critical theory/approach.
