Abstract

The united states of America have been on the receiving end of racism and all sorts of stereotypes. The issues have been so rampant and, in most cases, go unaddressed. Due to this, actors across the country have been airing their grievances using their work. Other here, hundreds of films or television films and comedies have involved racist characters on their film to show how a certain group of people is suffering. South Park is an American comedy that has been very vocal on matters of racism. The blacks and people of color have all suffered at the hands of racists. In this paper, we will look in-depth at the role played by these films in ensuring there is equality in America and across the globe. We will also look at what makes South Park more sensitive when discussing issues affecting the people. Additionally, we will discuss why the south park has gained many critics and what that means to the author.

South Park is American comedy series mostly meant for adults. The comedy series is called an animated sitcom because it is animated instead of a live-action presentation and is directed toward an adult audience most of the time. The comedy is anchored on the exploits of four boys called Kenny McCormick, Stash Marsh, and Kyle broflovski in Colorado town. The four boys live in South Park which is a small fictional town, which, according to the masterpiece, is located in South Park Basin in central Colorado which is a real place, where a rocky mountain is located. Other characters in the comedy, including students, families, residents, and various elementary school staff, have been drawn from the small town. The comedy series has been exposed to fierce criticism that contributed to its unpopularity, attributed to profanity and black humor. The comedy series provides a practical and comprehensive understanding of various themes that have led to social, political, and economic inequality in many countries, including the United States. Therefore. South Park provides conscious thinking on controversies, stereotypes and impacts.

Critics have raised several issues with the context of South Park over how it reflects crucial topics in society. They claim that comedy series have made essential topics in society more like jokes. For instance, a section of critics argues that the literary work made cancer look like a joke. At the same time, another critic also said that the comedy series is not worth solving the problems in society after making fun of Jesus. They have also complained that the comedy is too offensive and anchored on several disturbing moments. For instance, many audiences have complained that they do not like the disturbing media used in the comedy series. While some of the complaints could be true, it is essential to have a comprehensive understanding of the context in which various literary works are created; the audience has to effectively understand the scope of the literary genre and know how they are applied.

Several critics have made accusations against the South Park just because they have failed to understand the scope of the genre in literature. Genre is defined as a style or category of literature, music, or art. It relates to the style of use in a literary work consistent with particular categories of such arts (Grant, 2021). The various genres include comedy, drama, historical fiction, and fable, among others (Grant, 2021). Therefore, many people have not been in a position to understand the genre of the South Park and therefore make inconsistent criticism about the comedy series. Therefore, it is crucial that the audience fast understand the genre of the comedy they are going to watch to know the type of literary techniques to be used. For instance, the comedy genre often uses jokes, but that would not mean that the topics are lighter in society. For instance, because South Park is a comedy, it might make fun of cancer or Jesus, but that does not mean that such paradigms should be taken to light by the audience.

Despite the various criticisms that have been bestowed in the context of the South Park, it is critical to understand the implication and the objective of the comedy series to the audience. It is considered that literary work plays a critical role in society by highlighting the most important topics. Studies have confirmed that several episodes of South Park have helped in social issues. These are the essential benefits of the literary work that have been overridden by a section of critics who find it useful. The audience must concentrate on having a comprehensive interpretation of the contexts of the comedy series to help society address various social inequities such as racism and white supremacy that are still paramount in the United States. The following section will discuss how the comedy serious gives conscious thinking about the topics, controversies, stereotypes, and impacts.

After critics highlighted several weaknesses of the comedy series, the content creator has improved by eliminating some of the content that people find offensive and have resolved to focus on solving social issues. For instance, Episodes 200 and 201 were fiercely criticized by people who found them to be making fun of religions and celebrities (Miller, 2020). However, the creator of the content responded by saying that they used various techniques after a comic artist who did the various insignificant representation of Mohammed in the middle-east. Studies have also indicated how the South Park creator received threats from various groups, including the terrorist who threatened to kill the producer. However, the comedy fans responded by saying that the content creator of the series should not be afraid about the choices they made.

Controversies and Stereotypes and their Impacts

Even though the content selection of South Park could be offensive to many people, the audiences have to understand the genre of the literary piece and the objective. One of the comedy series' objectives is to use controversies to help people solve the social inequalities in the US and the rest of the world (Williams, 2019). Critics have agreed that using the context of controversies in the comedy series is interesting. The comedy series has used controversies to push to understand what is acceptable and what is not acceptable in society. Many people were offended by this paradigm. However, many people who understood this found the comedy very interesting and educational. This is a very critical spectrum of comedy and is worth studying. This essay will deeply explore how the comedy series have used controversies to push the bid to understand what is acceptable and what is not acceptable in society (Williams, 2019). The essay will also delve into the consequences the controversies have on the comedy series.

There are several examples of controversies that have been used in various episodes (Komsa, 2018). The entire has been considered critical in helping society have conscious thinking about various topics. Therefore, it is critical to explore every episode that portrays controversies to help understand how the comedy creators have used this literary technique to help determine what is accepted in society. Many episodes have been considered to be controversial but educative (Komsa, 2018). However, only a few have been considered to have caused a stir-up among the audience.

It Hits the Fan" Season 5, Episode 1

According to this episode, critics have blamed the content users for using the term "shit" on primetime television. It has been confirmed that the term was used more than fifty times in the episode, and many people wondered if it was ethical to use it on the national television that many people are viewing. While it is ethical to be concerned about the use of such words on national television, it is also critical to understand why the literary piece is using such terms and the main objective of using such terms. At the same time, it is also good to relate the genre of the comedy series and the literary techniques used to make reflections on societal inequalities.

While someone would criticize South Park for using such terms on primetime television, in this case, the content creators used this controversy to determine if the use of such terms can be accepted in society. Since the term "shit" in the episode, the term has been normalized.

Therefore, the comedy series used controversies to determine if such a term could be accepted in society and actualized it was. Therefore, the comedy is considered to have given conscious thinking about using the term and how society can accept such terms.

Proper Condom Use" Season 5, Episode 7

Many societies consider that sex education can be uncomfortable, especially when exposed to children. Communication authorizes in several countries have barred sexual education from being aired on national televisions because they have been considered adult content. Therefore, it could have been predicted that the South Park comedy would be in trouble if they exposed sex education to children on national television. Advocacy groups, especially those fighting for the rights of the children. Many people considered "proper condom use" too controversial to be aired in some countries. For instance, the Skye One in Britain declined to air the episode to their audiences.

However, it would be unfair to be quick to judge the content creators for creating such comedy. The main of the comedy was to determine if "Proper Condom Use" and sex education could be accepted in society. Many people, especially the advocacy groups, labeled the comedy series dangerous to democracy because of the contents. However, through the comedy, the society can now understand the paradigms in which sex education can be aired while considering the right and freedom of children to engage with various media in the era where digital cultures are sweeping across the world. Therefore, it is suitable to essay that through the sex education controversies, the comedy educated the society that there is certain content that could be important. However, it should be appropriately presented. Before creating the comedy, many people were confused, especially the content creators in the United States and other developed countries across the world. They did not know content to make public about sex education and the targeted audience. However, after the reaction to the episode from the South Park, they could review the conscious thinking of the audiences and therefore could make their mind about the targets for the education.

All About Mormons" Season 7, Episode 12

This is another important episode that has involved controversies and stereotypes in the South Park and has been considered important in educating society members (Porsgaard, 2019). This is considered one of the episodes that have comprehensively involved the clear reflection of stereotypes and controversies (Porsgaard, 2019). The episode involved a new kid in the South Park named Garry Harrison, and the boys hate him. Therefore, Stan is sent to beat him up but finds out that he is a friendly kid. Stan goes with Garry to their home, and he finds out that they are practicing Mormons. After finding out that Garry and his people are friendly, Randy resolved with his family that they would start practicing Mormons. The stereotyped kid Garry thinks he is a bad kid. However, they found out they were wrong. The comedy could have used the controversies of the kid; however, it used such a tool to determine how practicing Mormons could be viewed by members of society. The comedy, therefore, revealed that many people could be willing to practice Mormons. Therefore, the other kids who did not like Gary at the beginning should not be the significant issue in this case; the focal point should be how the controversies have been used in the episode.

Conclusion

The scope of controversies and stereotypes is essential in South Park because they have been used to determine what is acceptable in society and what is not. Therefore, before criticizing g the South Park, audiences should determine the genre of the masterpieces and then the main aim of various literary techniques that have been otherwise, many people will find the content of the comedy offensive, yet they are educative. They are provided conscious thinking to the society about controversies, stereotypes, and their impacts. However, it would also be unfair to deny that South Park also has specific weaknesses that have to be addressed, such as the use of disturbing media and the fact that it is being aired on national television. The creators should be innovative enough while improving the identified weakness to make literacy work more educative to society.
