Finding Dory is a children's movie about a fish trying to find her family. In this essay, I will explain how realism, naturalism, and darwinism are represented in the movies. Realism is a way of representing something in a way that is true to life. Naturalism is a theory that everything arises from natural properties and causes in nature. Darwinism is the theory of evolution and change as time goes on. These three literary genres are shown many different ways the the movie Finding Dory.

Realism, or showing something in a realistic way, Is shown multiple ways in this movie.

This is shown by the different ways they interact with each other and with their environment. The clownfish live in the sea anemone like they do in real life. The seals lay on the rock and sunbathe, and the squids/octopi ink when they are scared or embarrassed. The research center was also very realistic because they capture, rehabilitate and release the fish. Many places do this in the real world. Many aquariums also have a place where kids can touch the fish and creatures. All these examples are ways that realism is represented in Finding Dory.

Naturalism, or the theory of situations being caused by things in nature, is shown in the movie by the many challenges faced. While Dory is trying to find her family, she faces many obstacles in nature. One of the obstacles she faces is having to go across the ocean because it is a very far distance. She also has to survive a squid attack, putting them off track. When she does make it to the research center, she must make it to the area she once lived, with the help of the octopus. Then Dory had to go through the pipes on her own to get to the place she wanted. These are a few of many obstacles in nature that the characters had to face in the movie. This represents naturalism.
