Introduction

Chinese poetry is written in the classical Chinese language and is uniquely based on its lengthy existence. Chinese poetry has been classified into Shi, ci, ge, and fu. Famous poets in Chinese literature include Li Bai, Liu Yong, and Su Shi. This paper will conduct a genre analysis of Chinese poetry utilizing examples from famous Chinese poets.

The authors of Chinese poetry include Li Bai, who lived during the Tang dynasty and engaged more in writing romantic poems using the classical Chinese language. As a poet, Li Bai dedicated most of his life to enjoying himself with his friends, such as Du Fu, and passing the time by imagining nature. Su Shi, another Chinese poet, lived in the Song dynasty, although he was known more as an essayist. Su Shi was also engaged in politics and travel literature. Liu Yong was a poet in the Qing dynasty who primarily engaged in romantic poems from a male perspective. Yong also diversified in writing short songs in the exploration of human psychology. The core audience target for Chinese poetry based on the language and intention are all individuals, especially people of the Chinese essence.  The writers focus on morality from the philosophical teachings of Confucianism. The language used by the authors maintains direction on how people of the Chinese culture should behave in their life experiences, including romantics. Chinese poets developed poems to advise people on moral conduct while honoring the gods and other heroes. The poems are also written and narrated to maintain China's historical context from one generation to another. Chinese  poems  appeal  to the  reading  audience,  especially because  they communicate by reason. Poets are living examples and utilize ethos in both the writing and narration of the developed poems. The lives of the poets are closely linked to their writings and thus satisfy the pathos intention. As a reader, you can quickly notice the poet's emotions as you read through the poem building a connection with the target audience.

Classical Chinese poems are structured in multiple pairs of lines closely related to tone structure. The end rhymes and tonal cadence are organized for compactness and brevity. The poems communicate the poem's meaning to the poet rather than the contextual meaning attached to the surrounding. The couplets of the poems are symbolically and phonetically matched. They are narrated with an emphasis on accent and pitch to emphasize their meaning. The poets can switch lines, rhyme schemes, and lengths anywhere in the poem. There are different forms of Chinese poetry, including Lu Shi, Gu Ti, Ci,  Ge, and modern poetry. The design utilized by Chinese poetry is unique, considering images are not integrated into poetry but are present in other forms of Chinese literature. The Chinese language used in classical poetry was complex and took a long time to master and use in writing. No sources are used; more content is based on the poet's expertise in the craft, while other poets wrote from self -reflection. The linguistic style and features used in Chinese poetry contain the use of punctuation, the figurative language of expression, descriptive imagery, and emphasis on the poem's tone.

Chinese poetry is similar and different on several accounts to the reflective narrative about "How an immigrant had to deal with his accent" The two genres are similar in the use of figurative language to develop imagery and create a connection in both audiences. Also, the writings utilize the use of first language expression of communicating from experiences to tie rhetoric elements of both pathos and logos to the narratives of the poem. The literary works are different in organization and structure. The reflective narrative takes an essay, while Chinese poems use short lines.
