Subject:               Trip Report-Computer Dynamics, Inc.

Date:                     (Month and day, 2xxx

Introduction:

This report documents my trip to Computer Dynamics, Inc.’s (CD) technical seminar held September 18 in Dallas, TX. You authorized my trip on (date) to investigate new products, in particular the new PQ-500 line of computers.

Summary:

Based on my investigation, I was not impressed with the new line of computers.  The only hardware that might be beneficial to our company is CD’s new graphics terminal. We need to set up a meeting with several of our technicians before making any decision to purchase this product.

Discussion:

At the seminar, I attended a number of vendor presentations and reviewed brochures on their different products. I also talked with a number of CD’s representatives.  I found that the company offers several models in the 500 series, ranging in price from $11,000 to $45,000.  The top model has a 280 GB memory.  Although it’s very fast at matrix operations, this feature would be of little value to our company.  The other models offer nothing new.

I was, although, disturbed by some of the answers I received from the CD’s representatives. Most of the answers were misinformation.  On the other hand, the most interesting product was the graphics terminal.  It is user-friendly and would cost $4,000 to integrate the terminal with our system.  I believe that we want to go in the direction, and this product looks promising.

Recommendation:

I recommend our company consider getting the CD’s graphics terminal. After J. McKinley and R. Rossiter review the brochures I picked up at the seminar, we need to set up a meeting to discuss this issue. You can reach me at ex. 5678 if you have any questions.
