I would be sure to check any paint or metals for lead. Along with searching for any pipes that could possibly have lead-based solder that could potentially get in the water. I would be sure to get a carbon monoxide detector therefore, I do not have to worry about getting carbon monoxide poisoning that could result in death. Making sure the house has proper ways to release gasses such as smoke from a wood burner or fireplace. I would also check to see if the natural gas is properly hooked up. I would be sure to check for any kind of radiation that could be dangerous. High-power electric lines or radiofrequency electromagnetic fields can potentially cause cancer. Lastly, I would be sure to be aware of any air pollution that could take place. Burning fossil fuels is a concern; gasoline, coal, natural gas, and oil are fossil fuels. Coal-fired power plants and automobiles are major contributors to air pollution. Being familiar with the new area and surroundings is important when it comes to the health aspect as the environment can put off dangerous chemicals.
