Abstract Technology and cyber systems have become relevant to our modern society by being an element of various activities that have become interdependent on information technology. It is in this environment of cyber insecurity that civil aviation conducts its activity. Civil aviation is mainly dependent on cyber-enabled technology which is used to strengthen safety, reliability, and efficiency of air transport. The aviation industry is utilizing a wide computer-based interconnected system, spanning from air navigation systems, on-board aircraft control and communication systems, airport ground systems, flight information systems, security screening and many others that are used on a daily basis and for all aviation related operations. The attitude of the aviation industry is to become increasingly digitalized. Digitalization minimizes hazards as the interactions between people and systems make the risk easier and faster to predict. Background of study In the past years, aviation security evolved from old traditional practice to the modernized standard of implementing security. Knowing the urgency and relevance of protecting civil aviation's critical base, information and communication technology systems and data against cyber threats by developing a solid cybersecurity framework. The resolution addresses cybersecurity through a horizontal, cross-cutting and functional conceptualization, reaffirming the relevance and urgency of protecting civil aviation's critical infrastructure systems and data against cyber risks and threats. Significance of the Review During the old times, hazards and threats have gradually increased because of Poor Aviation security protocols and tools. Nowadays, Airport security protocols have improved in terms of implementation of strict protocol compliance with the help of modern technology. These technology serves as the primary tool that pertains to the system, techniques and methods used in an endeavor to protect passengers, staff, aircraft, and airport property from accidents, harm, crime, terrorism, and other danger. Aviation security is an accumulation of human and material resources in order to measure civil aviation against acts of unlawful interference. Unlawful interference could be acts of terrorism, sabotage, threat to life and property, communication of false threat, and bombing. Purpose of the Review The following proposal template will highlight the definition, features, roles and importance of modern technology as a tool for aviation BUSINESS DOCUMENT This document is intended for business use and should be distributed to intended recipients only. security. BUSINESS DOCUMENT This document is intended for business use and should be distributed to intended recipients only. Literature Review The research paper will include a comprehensive review of other published research papers related to the topic of cybersecurity in the industry and evaluation of the material as well as information presented in those paper. Furthermore, a recommendation along with expert opinion would be provided to support conclusion on the papers reviewed. Definitions Cyber Security: Despite the various terms of cyber security, it is maintaining safe, secure, and resilient operations— as a top priority for aviation through the help of Technology and digitization. The airport is a high-security area and the security companies work according to that by providing high-quality security service to the people. A new study conducted by the UN’s specialized agency for civil aviation demonstrates strong evidence that enhancements to the Dominican Republic’s implementation of ICAO guidance has resulted in a 15.5% increase in GDP per capita over 2006-2012. (2019) Lee Kair, managing director at the Chertoff Group, discusses new legislation to modernize technology and acquisition at the Transportation Security Administration, and how it could raise the “global standard.” Metal Detectors: if the metal-detecting portal sounds an alarm, passengers are searched further to determine the cause of the alarm and to ensure that they are not carrying objects that could be a threat to aviation security. (p.3, 1996) BUSINESS DOCUMENT This document is intended for business use and should be distributed to intended recipients only. CCTV: Position cameras at all entrances and exits in order to capture and monitor footage of everyone who passes through the airport. Radio frequency Identification (RFID); RFIDs are widely used now as contact-less tracing and dissemination of information. Baggage tracking provides the data that allows airlines to efficiently track the bag through all airport processes. Biometrics lock: It is the most appropriate and secured means of identifying and authenticating individuals in a reliable and fast way through unique biological characteristics. Restricted areas with biometric lock can secure the accessibility of the area and will keep the area close to unauthorized personnel. Airline Reservation System: this is a web-based booking solution that helps in consolidating data from all airlines through the use of global distribution systems. The system provides inventory and rates in real time to customers as well as travel agents. What are the modern Aviation security tools today? X-ray Baggage machine; The X ray baggage scanner is very relevant, we can use X ray baggage scanner to find smuggling or hidden contraband, on the other hand, ensure explosives, weapons, narcotics or weapons of mass destruction dangerous and illegal items not in the luggage, airport, factory or other place. How does these modern tools help in implementation of Aviation Security? “The United States expressed confidence the Philippine aviation security would improve, as it cited "active support" to the Department of Transportation in the modernization of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA)” (Rocamora, 2018) . Aviation Security and Operations will improve and lessen incidents and accidents as the procedures modernizes. “Commercial aviation originated as a means to provide relatively unfettered public transportation across large distances. Air transport is inherently vulnerable to unlawful interference and attack. Air flight has also always been a spectacular and visible feat, enhancing the system’s attractiveness as a target for activity seeking spectacular attention. These very achievements – reliable and speedy long distance travel and technical mastery of human flight – have brought into existence a particular form of malice and a particular set of solutions to it, collectively known as aviation security. “(Ross, 2014) BUSINESS DOCUMENT This document is intended for business use and should be distributed to intended recipients only. By 2001, we had incorporated basic security measures, including delineation of security zones, electronic badge access to secure zones, control between public and sterile areas, electronic control of security badges, radiographic and magnetic screening of departing passengers and luggage and some form of video surveillance in critical areas. What are the disadvantages of not utilizing modern tools in Aviation Security? If we will still stick with the traditional safety measures, threats will gradually increase, accidents and incidents will happen on a regular basis, and lastly, hi-jacking and other hazards occurrence will be higher. Proposed Methodology General Outline The research effort in this study will employ quantitative method to collect the required data for analysis, interpretation and inference. The type of quantitative method use for this project will be Surveys since the variable “leadership” is not manipulated but studied as it occur in their natural setting. The aim of quantitative research is to classify features, count them, and construct statistical models in an attempt to explain what is observed. The data gathered in numerical form will be put into categories, rank order, or measured in units of measurement. This type of data will be represented through the use of graphs and tables of raw data. Moreover, it is important to incorporate public feedback on the topic, which will be introduced in the research paper through interviews with senior managers in the field to include their expert opinion on the topic of the paper and how it will effectively drive changes into the industry overall. Design The study will be designed to collect data from a sample population of accidents and incidents from the past year records. The aim of the study design is to identify that accidents and incidents have been mitigated throughout the years as the incorporation of technology is utilized for Aviation Security. Limitations of the Study Hughes Christina (2012) mentions the following limitations when selecting a qualitative research: BUSINESS DOCUMENT This document is intended for business use and should be distributed to intended recipients only. ? The main limitation of quantitative research is the context of the study or experiment is ignored. ? Because of other factors causing incident and accidents, cyber security still has its hole and disadvantages. ? It fails to take account of people's unique ability to interpret their experiences, construct their own meanings and act on these. ? It is not totally objective because the researcher is subjectively involved in the very choice of a problem as worthy of investigation and in the interpretation of the results. Expected Outcomes The findings obtained on this proposal will be conclusive and can be used to recommend a final course of action about the strict compliance and utilization of our modern technology. Based on the information provided along with the data gathered, it will be easy to identify, diagnose and improve the Standard security procedures in a Global standard. Conclusion Through the years, aviation security and standard protocols have evolved and improved. These improvements helped our people fight and mitigate hazards, threats and risks. Gradual acceptance and proper utilization of the technology will serve as an asset than a liability to Airport Security. Technology and digitization bring many advantages to aviation, but at the same time, create demand in managing cyber exposure in this complex environment. The airline industry is an attractive target for cyber threat actors with a large number of motivations, ranging from stealing value in data or money to causing delay and harm.
