Computer Science

CS550 Final Project (Report) The final project will contribute 21% toward your final grade. The project consists of three components: • proposal (1 point) • in-person presentation (6 points) [except for several remote students whom I contact] • final report (14 points) Project presentation April 21st (Th) 11:25am-12:40pm (5 slots) April 26th (Tu) 11:25am-12:55pm (6 slots) April 28th (Th) 11:25am-12:55pm (6 slots) May 3rd (Tu) 10:30am-12:30pm (8 slots) Each presentation has 13 min + 1 min for questions All presentations will be held in Stuart Building #220 Project report (10-12 pages) May 3rd 11:59pm (hard deadline & no extension) REPORT Your final report, along with your presentation slide, is due by 11:59pm of May

The report should contain the following content: • Introduction (or Motivations) • Project Contributions • Project Description • Experimental Results (if you have) • Discussion (e.g., self-critique, improvements, lessons learned, etc.) • Conclusion Here is the breakdown about how will your project be graded. • Clearly stated background and motivation: 20% • Paper or presentation organization: 15% • Technical merits (e.g., technical contributions, your effort, criticism, comparison, etc.): 50% • Satisfactory English: 15% Form of your report: Not to exceed 14 single-spaced, double-column 8.5 x 11-inch pages (including figures, tables and references) in 10-point font (Times New Roman). Number each page. Please use IEEE manuscript templates for conference proceedings (US Letter) at http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html. Note: any report without following the template will have a ZERO grade. PRESENTATION Presentations should be done by all members of the group. Your presentation is expected to contain the similar content as in your report. 2 There are two parts to the Project Presentation: the presentation and Q&A. The goal of the presentation is two-fold: (1) explain to the audience what your problem is, and (2) describe what you have done to solve it. Following the presentation, the audience will critique your work and may offer suggestions for improvements. There will be 13 minutes (no more than 16 slides) allocated for each presentation and 1 minute of Q&A. Due to the time limitation, demo shows will be scheduled offline by appointment. If you plan to give a demo, send me an email. Bring your laptop with HDMI connector for in-class projector. PARTICIPATION You are required to attend at least two sessions. You will be graded based on your participation and whether you are actively involved in the presentation discussion. PRESENTATION SIGN-UP I will use Google Calendar Appointment Slots for presentation sign-up. Steps: • I will email the appointment page on April 12th (1pm CT); • When you receive the email, open a web browser and log in Google using your IIT account; • There are four dates for project presentation. On each date, there are multiple appointment slots. If a slot is selected by a team, the slot will NOT be available/shown for others; • After you log in, you select the date and select the time slot, then click “save”.
