Produce a research paper on a relevant topic of your choice. The paper should revolve around one relatively narrow and precise research question, answerable using existing and readily available source material. Choose from these examples:

• Was Ho Chi Minh a nationalist or a communist? (MOST RECOMMENDED***he is a communist who used nationalism as a tool)
• Why did communism develop a sizeable following in Vietnam in the early part of the 20^th century?
• Why did the United States decide to come to the assistance of France in Indochina in 1950?

• Is there any truth to the notion that the war in Vietnam was a civil war more than a neo-colonial war or a superpower proxy war?
• What was the role of the Soviet Union and/or China in the Vietnam War?
• What was the impact of the American and/or global antiwar movement on the course and outcome of the Vietnam War?
• How did the Vietnam War change Vietnam? How did it change the United States? How did it change the world?The final paper must:
  • be 7-10 pages in length (typed, double-spaced, 12-point font, 1" margins on all sides);
