Module 1 focuses on IoT and the Digital Transformation. These two topics are interrelated. IoT plus cloud deployments and analytics development are creating a new industrial evolution defined by the Digital Transformation.

The Digital Transformation goes above and beyond the idea of putting everything in files that can be shared, digital information. The big idea is: Digital Transformation is enabling companies the invent new services. For example, companies like Amazon, UBER, and Tesla to name only three are perfect examples of Digital Transformation.

Think about what Tesla offers. You may think it is electric cars. But that is only partially true. Tesla is an information company and a pioneer of Digital Transformation. They have more data on driving, how cars move, where, and when, than any other company in the world. That is enabling Tesla to create new services, some that are yet to be invented. UBER similarly is more than just a digitized taxi company. UBER is inventing how to transport people in a city, and other things like food and more.
