Your company will be building a conveyor that will travel collected scrap metal from heavy presses to an outdoor collection bin. The conveyor is located in a large open ended pit, like a hallway, beneath the presses and below the surface of the floor. It will be controlled from a station at the end of the press line and out of sight from the control station. It will be one continuous belt that delivers from the building to a covered area where open scrap bins are located. What are your concerns? What principles of guarding and controls would you want to implement? Think about the remote location and long continuous line. How would emergency stops work and be situated?
