In the scenario assignments, you are asked to reflect on responses to the presented scenario. It should not just be writing down your first reaction or what you already know

Reflection involves critical thinking, which means rethinking your existing knowledge and previously held opinions in light of what we have learned about theories of ethics, logic, and reasoning. You will need to question your current knowledge and beliefs.

Discuss the main points of the debate, what stance you take, support that stance, and discuss the opposing argument. Also discuss an ethical theory that would apply to defend your view.

To complete each scenario assignment:

1. Complete the entire scenario.
2. Compose your reflection in a Word document and be sure to address, at a minimum, the following questions:
   • Why do you feel the way you do about the issue presented?
   • Of the four responses offered in the scenario, which do you think is the most ethical and why?
3. Support your conclusions with evidence and specific examples from the textbook, including a minimum of one theory of ethics to defend your stance.

Use sources to give background info of the topic. Discuss your thoughts about the topic. Feelings on Scenario Here you will discuss the scenario. Specifically, discuss which option choice at the end of the scenario you thought was most ethical and why. Explicitly stating which option you thought was most ethical can be helpful. For instance, if you choose option A write in your paper “I think option A is most ethical because….” Make sure you cite the scenario when summarizing what the doctors say or option choices. For this paper you should be citing the scenario. I have an example of how to reference the scenario below in references. Examples of how to cite the scenario include (WCU, n.d.). If a person is speaking in the scenario for instance Dr. Meadows then you can also use that in a citation for example (Meadows, n.d.). As long as you are citing, either is fine. If you are going to quote from the scenario and it is a long quote use box quotes. Ethical Theories Here you will discuss ethical issues and how the ethical theories (Kant, Utilitarianism, Virtue Ethics, etc) relate to the topic at hand. Use a source to back up your claims of this association. It is not enough to just say this seems utilitarian. Further, I would like specifics. It is not enough to only say the scenario relates to consequentialism. Which exact consequentialist theory do you think it relates to? Also be aware of using an actual theory. Concepts like personhood or autonomy are principles in ethics that help create a great discussion but are not ethical theories themselves. You can discuss those topics but make sure you also add an ethical theory. Conclusion 3 Conclude the paper. This section is more optional. Make sure the paper is double spaced and has 1 inch margins on all sides. Extra spaces should not be between sections. This paper should be at least a full page but no more than 2 full pages. If your paper is more than two pages try to be more concise or remove unnecessary information. Anything after the 2 pages will not contribute to the grade.
