Provide one example of how the t test could be used to compare means within your work environment or domain of interest, and one example of how ANOVA could be used to compare means within your work environment or domain of interest. Be sure to specify the grouping variable (IV) and the dependent variable (DV) in each example.

Discuss the appropriateness of using the t test versus ANOVA. (This can be less than 200 words.)  

***A little about my job.  My current position is a Senior Administrative Assistant for a small shipyard. (I will be the Administration Manager in May once my boss retires. It’s part of the reason why I returned to graduate school.) 

Unit VI will continue to explain the use of additional statistical procedures that are used to quantitatively test data. These procedures are also inferential statistics. As discussed last unit, inferential statistics allow researchers to make inferences about a population based upon the statistical testing of sample data. This is referred to as generalizing results.

Generalizing statistical results is only possible if the sample was randomly selected from the population of interest. Random selection of the sample ensures it is representative of the population.

Always remember that statistical analysis can be simplified as either looking for relationships (or associations) between variables or looking for differences between group means. This unit considers t test and ANOVA, which are statistical procedures that test for differences between group means.

To determine which specific statistical procedure is needed to test each of the six Sun Coast research problems, refer to the tabs in the data file. The tab labels will give a hint.

Using the Sun Coast Remediation data set, perform an independent samples t Test, dependent samples t Test, and ANOVA, and interpret the results.
