Constitutional Issues
The constitution is a guiding principle to citizens in every country or state; it states laws and regulations that people, organizations, or even government should adhere to as they discharge their day-to-day services. Human right is a category that several people are interested in because it protects them from malpractices that their bosses or government direct to them. However, several organizations have been in the limelight because their bosses violate their rights and freedom.
Qn. 1
From the story “Can the Bosses Do That,” I can attest that I have experienced such bosses in my life, where my boss violated my freedom of expression and privacy. I was employed in one of the local organizations in my state as an accountant; during the interview, one of the panelists I learned of him as a manager in the same organization asked me whether I could sue the organization when I was fired anytime. Because I needed the job, I promised not to do it, and I was given a document to sign about the same. I never knew that the issue would one day affect my career development in that organization. After two years of work, I realized that the organization was no longer registering good returns. I informed the manager about it and gave him strategies to ensure that the organization gains its standard returns. The story backfired where the manager cited that I was the one who was “killing” the organization following my expressions. My bank accounts and mobile phone were scrutinized to determine whether I channel the organization’s resources to unknown sources. Everything in my phone was accessed, including records of monies that I sent to my spouse; the manager asked me where I got the money and why I sent them to every individual.
I was not happy about the scrutiny and checking as it violated my right to privacy. I became adamant, which resulted in my retrenchment; I tried to sue the organization, but the court said no law protects employees from being fired by their bosses. It was so painful to learn about that, and I suggest that the issue be captured in the constitution. It will help employees from being fired anyhow by their bosses as it ruins their future lives.
Qn. 2
The topic "Constitutional Issues" is one of my favorite topics associated with the course content. I am interested in constitutional issues because it is an issue that helps one to learn in detail about their rights and freedoms, what to do and what they do not have to do. In life, it is always good to know your boundaries to avoid facing the consequences that are defined as painful. Through the constitution, we can understand how we can elect our leaders, what we expect them to do for us, and how we can get rid of them if they cannot discharge their duties as anticipated. Therefore, handling constitutional issues as a topic will enable every individual to understand their purpose in life and the freedoms they are entitled to (Rubin 2020).
