As behavior is a dynamic process (Robbins & Judge, 2021), it includes multiple intentions depending on the response received. Collaboration is the best intention, as it considers all the members of a group with a multifaceted solution pattern. It is not only exploratory but also a highly interactive and powerful strategy. However, in many of the everyday practice situations, it can be an impossible method. For instance, sometimes, a manager must take action at any cost, and the impact of the action doesn’t leave that option open.

In the given scenario, Pauline must eliminate two people from the existing team, in which she has a close relationship with all the members. She neither chooses to change this decision nor can override the impact of the decision on the members who will be pulled out by any means. Collaborative intent will try maximum for the eliminating members to understand the situation. The manager might have an alternative for those team members, such as an allotment to another project, or some members are practical thinkers, but it is not possible in many of the cases. Pauline will definitely struggle with the collaborative intent and will be more likely to end up with a compromise.
