Media is a very influential aspect of society that helps to promote effective public awareness. In media and journalism, objective reporting is critical in helping provide facts about an issue without any form of exaggeration. Objective reporting involves giving the facts to the public irrespective of whether the reporter agrees with the information or not (Makki & White, 2018). I believe that televised reporting is more objective in their reporting compared to print media. Televised reporting displays the scene of reporting where activity is ongoing, and the audience can be able also to see and make their judgment. The televised reporting requires the reporters to ensure they are objective to ensure they do not get into question from the public. However, print media is slightly subjective as they try to appeal to the buyers and readers of the prints. They tend to manipulate some information to meet target audience objectives.

Do you believe there is more, or less, objective reporting during times of crises?

I believe that in there is less objective during times of crises. Reporting during crises tends to be more subjective as the media attempts to deliver the desired information to the public (Smith et al., 2018). The reporters tend to concentrate much on creating awareness and warning the audience of the implications of the crises rather than concentrating on the facts.

Do you believe the media should be censored to protect Homeland Security?

Media is also a fundamental pillar in influencing security and helping to mitigate terrorism or increase its occurrence. I believe that media should be censored to protect homeland security and ensure their information is not leaked to the public to prevent terrorism. Security details should not be public information since it can lead to exposure of essential secrets in preventing terrorism (Anisin, 2020). The media should only expose issues of concern that affect the general public, such as police brutality and racial profiling. In homeland security, security secrets on fighting terrorism should always remain an internal affair to avoid attacks from terrorists.
