You have been contracted to develop a system for processing data for an organization with several retail stores that sell household items, including furniture. Just like any organization, there are departments such as IT, customer service, marketing, sales, payroll, accounts payable, credit services, and some sort of operations. Within each department, employees have specific jobs (manager, administrative assistant, and associate). All employees are paid a salary and benefits. The only exception is the sales department, where sales representatives are paid a base salary plus commission, which is 20% of their sales.

Instructions:

For this assignment, you must create the entities and attributes via MySQL Workbench or SQL queries to model the business case in the scenario.

Open MySQL Workbench and perform the following tasks:

Create a schema with the appropriate entities and attributes to fit the scenario above.

Add sufficient data, within your new database, for each of the entities and attributes – at least five departments with at least 10 employees in each.

Export your database to your computer. Be sure and select the option to “Export to Self-Contained File.”

Run a SQL query to determine the total number of employees and take a screenshot of the query results.

Run a SQL query for the sales department to determine the commissions paid to specific employees for December and take a screenshot of the query results.
