Financial Strategy and Investment Management State your own opinion about the following question with supporting theories, researches, or statistics

Finance

Financial Strategy and Investment Management

State your own opinion about the following question with supporting theories, researches, or statistics.

“In January 2021, there was an activism in NYSE against the Wallstreet’s Short squeeze, which caused unprecedented fluctuation of GameStop (GME) stock price. Many experts point out that such extreme volatility was not a rational reflection of the increasing risk of the firm, but an irrational investment decision, referencing behavioural finance theories. What kind of backgrounds and behavioural finance concepts do you think can explain this irrationality in the stock market? Please provide relevant studies and describe how those are linked to the turmoil.”

All submissions MUST be typed in MS Word using Calibri 11-point font and double line spacing. Page margins should be set to ‘normal’ on MS Word (2.54cm for A4 paper). All pages should be numbered consecutively. Should you require a word limit; the restrictions will impart a max word count of circa 3,000 words. Include all tables and charts in the main body of your essay. You can capture and paste images, tables and graphs, only if necessary.

While it is not compulsory, I would suggest the following structure for this coursework:

  1. Introduction
  2. Literature Review
  3. Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis
  4. Discussion
  5. Conclusion

A full reference list should be submitted at the end of the report following the Harvard Referencing System. This reference list is not included in the page/word limit for the assignment. Penalties will be applied at the discretion of the class lecturer to anyone that fails to follow these guidelines, but as a general principle, anything beyond 3,000 words of text in the prescribed format will not be marked.
