Timeliness as distinctive characteristic

         My practicum site is located in Rhode Island. Some of the distinctive characteristics demonstrated by my practicum site include timelines, sensitivity, and representation. Timeliness has been shown by taking accurate measures on time to prevent the spread of infectious diseases (Maurício et al., 2017). For example, my practicum site has put the necessary steps to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Healthcare workers and any other individual within the practicum site must sanitize frequently and have their masks on. Individuals are also required to maintain social distancing.

Sensitivity

         The other distinctive characteristic demonstrated by my practicum site is sensitivity. It involves the capacity of the practicum site to detect health issues and protect the patients or community members from the problems. An example of how sensitivity is demonstrated in my practicum site is isolating patients with infectious diseases from other patients (Giménez-Bertomeu et al., 2019). Patients with infectious diseases such as Covid-19 are set in a separate location to ensure other patients who do not have infectious diseases.

Representation

         Representation is another unique characteristic of public health that is demonstrated by my practicum. The practicum site represents the public health sector by offering high-quality healthcare services to community members. The practicum site also provides education programs to the community members of the public to adapt to healthy lifestyles. This is essential in promoting the health status of society.

         The organization demonstrates distinctive characteristics of public health by ensuring that public health standards and regulations are being followed. The practicum site ensures that it provides training opportunities for healthcare workers to offer high-quality public health services. The facility also uses new technology such as Electronic Health Record System in storing patient data (Faden et al., 2019). These help in minimizing medical errors and promoting the effectiveness and efficiency of operations in the healthcare organization.
