2-"The Planetary Science Division of NASA says more than ten thousand large asteroids and four thousand small asteroids have been detected in the observable solar system. More than one thousand of these objects are each a kilometer in diameter, enough to destroy human life on earth. While a few asteroids in our vicinity may not pose much of a threat, the laws of probability clearly suggest that thousands do. It’s time we took seriously the threat posed to our safety by such enormous numbers of potentially deadly asteroids."
