Learning outcomes:

This assignment is designed to support the following learning outcomes:

• Examine current perspectives on how various aspects of the selected behavioral or developmental area impact children including not just their behavior but development and learning as well. Impacts can be both positive as well as negative in terms of how they are seen in the child’s observable behavior.
• Use appropriate  research to explain how the behavior is manifested by the child

i.e. “what does it look like and why”

• Express how individual behavior is affected by the different environment the child is exposed to.
• Investigate potential strategies designed to affect attitude formation and the likelihood that attitude changes will lead to changes in overt behavior.

Directions for completion of the research paper:

1. Topic: Impact of technology on learning and behaviour
2. Describe and define the topic- provide a clear overview of the selected behavioural area to be researched
3. Provide a literature review that covers both the breadth and depth of the topic. (minimum 5 scholarly articles/texts which can include relevant textbooks).
4. Discuss the impact of the area being examined on the individual’s learning, development and behaviour. These impacts can be both positive as well as negative
5. Discuss the potential  impact of different variables that may have an influence on its emergence and how it affects the young child’s learning, development and behavior over time (e.g. culture, gender, SES, age, environment in which person lives, family structure, education of self or family members). Outline potential long-term consequences it may have on the child’s over-all development.
6. Identify the potential need to either mitigate or support its impact on the individual and discuss possible ways to positively influence the child’s behavior, attitudes and development. Suggestions should be inclusive of both the child and the parents as part of a holistic approach.
7. Explain the importance of this knowledge for professionals who will be working with a diverse range of children and families
8. Summarize findings and draw conclusions.
9. Assignment should be written in APA format
