Following is a list of random sequence of alphabets. You are to take a few minutes and try to memorize the list to the best of your abilities. After 5 minutes you are to perform a completely unrelated task for at least 5 minutes, and then (without looking at the word) recall the list from memory. The list you have to remember is:

The words on the end of the list or the words that are most recently presented will be remembered first because of the recency effect. It is known to be dependent on the short-term memory in which the words that are studied last are the words that are easily recalled since those words are still in the short-term memory. The STM memory can only hold information for about 20-30 seconds without rehearsal, thus if there would be longer delay in recalling these list of words, then the recency effect may be eliminated.
